Design Notes: This is a concept design which I completed as a college assignment to create a traditional knot garden. I used inspiration from a book of knots we have at home as well as the Stafford Knot emblem of our county. The plaits at the sides are inspired by our daughter’s hair. No infill plants are used in this design, which is infilled with arctic white gravel instead. This allows the focus to be solely on the intricacy of the knots and the design. The round balls of yew and euonymus give some contrast to the angular clipping of the knots. The variation in planting with the three shades of green gives interest and definition to the garden.
